Well, dumba$$ me somehow didn't have System Restore up and running on my HTPC and after trying this hack my Terminal Service is "not listening" anymore.  I used first the method on the main article, then tried the batch file (which had to be edited as the "Terminal Service" should be called "TermService").  Now I just get the not listening and can't connect with any XP or Vista machine.

Should have just left it alone...

Can anyone help troubleshoot this issue?  I'm using Vista Ultimate (32bit)

I had to run that bat file a few times and I rebooted once or twice. I didn't have to rename anything. I am running Vista Ultimate with th TV pack. I doubt that make a difference though. The first time I ran it it did say the service was not listening. I rebooted and ran it again and it was working. The account was an administrator account but I think I ran the bat file as administrator by right clicking.

The files sizes I have in the image should match yours.

Which pack did you use?  I used one of the posts here but it didn't have those 32/64_rdpclip files, just a .bat for each version of Vista and a new termsrv.dll.  I don't know why I had to rename the service in the bat, or why it was different from others.

I am pretty sure this is it. There is a thread @ TheGreenButton

Thanks Meester.Rip!  That pack worked.  However, it may also be due to the fact that I saw that the Terminal Service was not stopping during the process.  I had the same problem with some of the other "concurrent sessions packs" I found.  To fix it, I had to set the service to "Disabled", reboot, then run the cmd file.  All peaches after that.

Glad to hear you got it working. It defintely has made working on the VMC easier when I don't have to kick anyone using it out.

Hey all,

I recently upgraded to SP1.

I'm using the hack for home premium and i'm getting this error every time I try to use remote desktop and connect to my own PC using Remote Desktop Connection.

"Because of an error in data encrpytion, this session will end. Please try connecting to the remote computer again"

This error has only occurred when I upgraded to SP1 and not when I was using the original hack.

Any help is appreciated.

Check you options on the remote pc you are trying to connect to. One option allows any computer to connect the other requires Network Level Authentication.

Hi,

Thanks for your advice.

I'm not sure which options you're talking about. Where can I access these options?

I'm trying to connect to the same computer - so I'm controlling two user accounts at the same time on the same PC - so its not a 'remote' computer to to speak.

So there is no B computer. You are sitting at A logged in with Account X and trying to create a remote session with PC A via user Z. I have no idea if that should work.

You can get to the options for Remote desktop  via right clicking my computer and selecting properties.

It worked before - but since I upgraded to SP1 (and installed the sp1 version of the hack) it doesn't work and I get that error.

There aren't any options for remote desktop since i'm on home premium.

Oh. I've never tried setting up RD on Premium. Have you checked the thread at the Green Button on this topic? That is where I tracked down the files to do the concurrent sessions.

I've been trying to do this and I get the same problems as those above (access denied, Terminal Service start failed. The relevant status code was Error: 0xc004f012., etc).  I've also lost the original copy Sad

I have Vista Business 64 bit SP1

Would someone send me a copy of the original DLL so I can at least get it working how it should be?  I would greatly appreciate it.

Question for you guys...

I'm FAIRLY certain that the hack i'm using to have concurrent rdp sessions is the one found here at the "MissingRemote".

BUT, i'm confused by the following statement towards the end of the instructions:

"Then you'll also need to create another user. Remember, this doesn't let you connect 2 people to the same user account, so make another account & then just connect to that one & you should NOT be disconnected."

This DID NOT APPLY in my case. I AM able to have the SAME user logged in 2, 3, 4, possibly infinite times...

Anyone else have this experience?

The reason that i'm asking is because i actually have a use for this capability... but i'd RATHER do this for XP instead of Vista... but so far, i've only had success with Vista 64bit (haven't tried with 32bit) for the whole "same user, several sessions" thing.

Any thoughts? Is this a fluke? i can provide the dlls and script that i'm using if that'd help.
