I got the same email but I did not see any good news. We went from getting release dates to "it's coming" by the time it gets here I might find out Hulu plus has everything I need.

I took the newsletter as good news for those with pre-orders pending and very likely that we will see a July ship date.
Hulu Plus is a welcome addition but it wouldn't work in my family. My wife and kids are channel jumpers and I don't see that changing.

The last report we got from Ceton was that production had ben postponed due to a parts shortage. Ceton indicated that the manufacturuing process is very short so now that they have the parts in production it should be a short time before we start seeing them ship units to fill the pre-orders. This means that I'm closer to getting my cablecard tuner than I was several months ago. To me, that's great news. FWIW, if you decide Hulu Plus suits your needs then you never needed the Ceton tuner in the first place. |

All I want the tuner for is for firing up Showtime and HBO for a few series now and then. But with 23000 seeds I can get true blood in 5 minutes.
I got the same report which still doesn't have a date. I'd rather have a date in December than no date and just stalling. They gave us a date before, I think it was May. They don't want to miss another date so they chose not to give one.
The problem with Hulu plus is that it is not coming to the Media Center. And maybe Google TV will be able to wrap it all up.

You'd think that if production has started, they could give an estimate on when the first shipments will go out the door....but then again maybe I'd hold off on any promises until QA has looked at the first production run.

I am not holding my breath for either one. The longer it takes the smarter the consumers get while they dig around for alternatives. Especially when Comcast keeps screwing with prices it will be another factor when looking at the cost of a cable card setup.

For those not following the massive tgb thread... Hi everyone, I had a very busy day today sorry. Instead of sending a newsletter I'm just going to tell you what I know here. The first batch of boards have been made and are currently going though testing. So far everything is going well. At the current schedule they will be shipped out of India at the end of this week and should be in the US mid-next week. At that point they will be shipped to the distributors (zones, cannon and fluid) who will send them to their individual customers. I'll keep you up to date when they ship from India. Thanks, -Jeremy

Good to know they'll be shipping shortly. After going through all of the middle men it looks like the end customers could start seeing them as early as the 3rd or 4th week of August.
BTW - where is the tgb thread that you referenced?

It unfortunately also shows how little many of us (probably myself included) give consideration to smaller companies and distributors. The pre-oreder distributors have probably lost money with the extra support costs answering daily questions on the InfiniTV4. |
