I think if the cost was reasonable and the premium tier HD content was abundant, then I'd probably subscribe.

Am I the only one who thinks that if this takes off, then the cable and satellite companies are going to go ballistic?  It may be a ways off for the time being, but I think industries are a little wiser and cautious ever since the music industry lost it's stranglehold after that little "Napster" thing.

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for competition.  However, those powerhouse industries are not.

well, it'll be very interestin to see what happens. i never thought hulu would continue to grow their collection as vastly and quickly as they have, given that very reason. I think they probably figure that if people like a show good enough, they will want to see it live, and that the majority of people will use Hulu in addition to their cable service, not in place of.

I think it's perfectly reasonable for them to charge for what they offer.  But then, I don't view any web-based content simply because the quality doesn't compare with real HDTV or Blu-Ray.  Call me an elitist or a snob, but I got into HDTV for the quality it provides.  I watched a couple of short clips on Hulu once and it didn't impress me in the least.  There are lots of other ways to view shows you missed that are available in higher quality formats.

That being said, if you like to suffer through low res video on a small screen or stretch it out to see all of its grainy imperfections on a big screen, then Hulu and all other web-based services are right up your alley.  You already have to pay for NetFlix, Amazon UnBox, and several others so why should Hulu be any different?.
