A possible optical arrangement to accommodate both lamps, I believe the Sanyo uses the same setup as Panasonic's Briteoptic, Dual-Lamp system. Pretty neat how it uses a triangular shape lens to combine the white light from its sides and then internal reflection to redirect the light towards the "tip."
