My Simple Apartment Living Room & Bedroom Setup (with projector)

Aug 26 2007

A little bit over a month ago I moved into my own apartment. It's somewhere that I'm leasing so I really didn't want to run cables through the wall or under the carpet. So as you can see in some of the pictures the area rug that is in the middle of the living room, that is where I ran the Component/DVI cables for the Projector and for rear surrounds. I feel I was lucky to find something like that because I love the way it looks (not too flashy or busy) and it matches perfectly with my furniture, carpet and the walls!  http://www.flickr.com/photos/rdb4133/sets/72157601672716729/detail/ I figured it would be easier to just link to my Flickr page since it already has notes on all of the different components and all! Thanks everyone for looking! Smile

Neat, an appartment is always hard to deal with since you can't really run wires in any permanent fashion. How's the image quality without a proper projector screen?

Hey Matt, the image is surprisingly good on the beige wall. Much better than I expected before I actually set everything up in the apartment. I actually had bought an EliteScreen 84" portable projector screen (since I didn't want to mount anything permanent or leave any big holes) but once I saw the image projected on the wall I was happy with it so I returned the screen to Circuit City. I just got finished playing BioShock last night for about an hour all I have to say is WOW! Smile

oh rdb, you had me at "sportscenter on 85"

*drooooL*

very nice tho. you seem to be a big gamer....no PS3? Smile

I'm such an IKEA whore, the first thing I noticed in your pictures was the rug.  :Smile

LOL! Smile Yes sportscenter is great at 85"! Can't wait for football season to start!  ;D

Yeah I'm a bit of a gamer, as any true gamer will tell you the PS3 sucks!!! haha just kidding! I'm not a one console "fan-boy" or anything. Personally the cost of a PS3 and the games they have can't justify for me to get one at all as of right now. Maybe in the future.

Just like a woman to notice other things besides the electronics first! LOL just kidding! Wink Actually I didn't get it from IKEA (there are none as of yet in Central Florida) it was from the evil WalMart  Laughing out loud

WOO! Ripoff rug hehe. Who says only electronics are copied?  Smile
Seriously, IKEA has had that design for at least a decade or more.

And I did notice the xbox 360 and the fact that you were running xbmc immediately afterwards... plus you have the wireless keyboard I almost got (ended up winning a wired one in a game tournament though, so never bought it).

Nice setup.

Thanks for the compliments on the setup Jennyfur! IMO XBMC is one of the best things to come out for people wanting to have a HTPC client, where else can you get a versatile device like that for less than $100? Not to mention it's ease of use!

Doesn't the saying go "imitation is the best form of flattery"? Wink The BTC wireless keyboard is great by the way.

Nice setup. I miss my 100" projector more every day. One day I will get it back.

XBMC is a neat little box and I definitely used it at one point but with a beautiful projector like you have you need HD!

Holy thread resurrection...

To be fair, DavidStein didn't bring it back from the dead.  A spammer did and that led DavidStein to respond.  I deleted the spam shortly thereafter.  At least he stayed on topic, unlike the spammer!

I definitely didn't notice it was from 2007 Sad

lol!!
