I have a MS MCE remote that I started to use again (after period of inactivity). It is programmed currently to control the audio of a Logitech speaker system and power of a Syntax TV. So now I need to re-program it to control the volume of the same Syntax TV as opposed to the Logitech speakers. But I cannot seem to get it to program or to reset to defaults. I follow the instructions for both without luck. When programming it, it seems to take but won't control the TV. When I try reset, it gives 4 flashes (indicating the reset did not take).
For troubleshooting I tried the following:
-Try daylight/lowlight/bright light
-Try in a closet to avoid interference
-remove batteries for 3 days and then try again
-replace batteries
-google search
I'm out of ideas - the remote works fine otherwise. Any ideas/opinions?

Try This:
To restore the default remote control settings
1 Press and hold the DVD MENU button and LEFT navigation button at the same time until the remote control for Media Center PC lights turn off.
2 Press the OK button.
The remote control for Media Center PC lights blink twice to confirm that the buttons have been reset. The TV button will have no command assigned to it and the VOL + and VOL – buttons will adjust the Media Center PC system volume. If the default settings were not restored, the lights blink quickly four times. To try again, repeat steps 1 and 2.
