I'm going to work through the complete first season of Dr. Who this weekend. Just borrowed the DVD's from someone.
I think I should spend more time here...
Isn't that stealing from the MPAA?
Isn't that stealing from the MPAA?
It would be funny if it wasn't so true that that's how they see things. I probably just bought myself a lawsuit with that comment. ;D
Well Monkey Boy.... It's been nice knowing you. I think I can hear the SS... I mean MPAA coming your way.
You bought them used and sold them back, what's the big deal. You could always just get into the phone booth and go back in time to fix things ;D

If I had a Tardis, I think I would go back in time and figure out a way to blink the MPAA out of existence rather than just cover my own ass. >:D

I like Dr. Who, I had most of the first season PVR'ed and never watched it. Now it's on BBC America so I'm watching the 1st season that way. Of course the 2nd season is on Sci-Fi... so I guess I'm just off. But I've watched random episodes here and there and like it.
And as long as you are borowing the DVDs (not copying them for yourself, etc) and give them back when you're done I don't think there is an issue for the MPAA to come storm your home
Yeah, I know, I was just being facetious. :) If they came after me, it would probably be for my excessive Usenet use rather than this anyway... *-*
BTW, since I can't really go off topic in this thread anyway, what ever happened to that ATI Q&A you were going to do?
SHHHHH!!!
don't talk about usenet, all the pirates use bittorrent, don't you read the news?

Honestly I abondonded it, HTPCnews holds little interest for me these days, and ATI seemed less then enthusastic about it. The contact I had didn't even get my name right! (He called me "Mark" in the e-mail I got back).
Isn't there a Dr. Who movie coming out soon, I thought I saw a trailer somewhere along the way recently. I can't imagine they will capture the campy lowtech charm of the series.

Transformers #1, what what!!!?!?!! O0
Yeah I agree it should be in there, but not necessarily #1. I was a big fan of WOPR
maybe it's in that link i'm too lazy to click again...but what's WOPR?
On the list at #4:
WOPR (War Operations Plan Response) – WarGames (1983)
maybe it's in that link i'm too lazy to click again...but what's WOPR?
I think there should be some form of penance for:
#1 Not clicking the link (RTFM)
#2 Not knowing what any self respecting geek should know about WOPR!!
;D
ROFL....c'mon now!!! not my fault. WarGames came out in what, 1983? I was born in 81....that leaves only 2 years in existence for me to undertsand whatever it was
But i've seen it a bunch of times, just not in a while.
But hey, i accept whatever punishment is deemed acceptable

;D This is going to be too easy... Since you are a MCE MVP, your penance is to install MythTV.

Hehe... ok we'll forgive you. Youngin'
I was only 6 at the time anyway. I think the majority of my memories of it were from VHS or HBO a year or two later.
"DO YOU WANT TO PLAY A GAME?"

I'm suddenly feeling very old....

well, with all fairness. about a year ago i had a spare system laying around my house, so i decided to try Jarod's guide to installing Myth with Fedora. I'm only remembering here, but i think it took around 8 hours for me to get up & running with my tv only slightly discolored green
yah...that was fun
BUT...if i ever get to the point where i have as many systems as i used to, i promise i'll try it again (i had around 7 back then. i currently have 2
damn small apts)
I guess I was 10, but I don't think I saw it in the theater. Definitely HBO or something.
What makes me feel old is that my mom used to dial into work with a modem you set the reciever down on. (I used it later for GEnie!)

[/hr]HDNet Movies (1080i): Running on Empty (6:30 p.m.), WarGames (8:15 p.m.), In Enemy Hands (10 p.m.)
So, anyone who want to brush up can have their chance tonight!
How about a nice game of chess?
That was one of my favorite movies for quite a long time (and I guess I would have been 4 when it came out). I have a copy of it on VHS but my VCR started eating tapes a few years ago so I haven't watched it recently.

Alright, 6 whole posts! woohoo!
And thus starts Lothar's abuse of the "I think I should spend more time here" thread to pimp his post count... :) Glad to see you here Lothar.
ROFL....i bit my tongue on that one.
Speaking of biting tongues...GOOOOO LAKERS!
what an afternoon, i swapped out my system's mobo & still got it up & running to watch the Laker game. can you say...LUUUUCKKKYYYY
btw...i chose to go 3gb DDR Memory (where all 4 don't match) versus 2gb of matched. Think it matters? I don't do much gaming so this is mainly an MCE/server box

Holy Cow.... 3GB for a MS MCE/server ? If that was a linux box you'd only need 512MB..
*/me runs for the hills*
hahaha. it's got ZERO to do what what i need
i got the 2gb matched from a friend. i actually still have 2 x 512mb just laying here along with basically a full system (including my old silverstone LC10m).
*sigh* that's what happens when you gotta move & consolidate systems. i should sell em, but i luv em too much

Yeah. I haven't tried that distro yet, but I have heard good things about it. Certainly couldn't hurt to give it a spin in one of your "spare" PCs.

Hey, I resemble that. And this time around I may even go for quantity over quality... No wait, other way around.
Post count bump...
Since I've been bumped from the top 10 over at HTPCnews, I guess I'll have to spend time pimping my post count here instead while I have a chance to get an early lead.
Oh noes! I go away for the holidays and miss a post whoring fest
In other news, being away a few days actually allowed enough news topics to build up that I actually had to read the 2nd page to get to all the "new" ones. Hahaha usually I'm at work refreshing the page hoping for new stuff every few minutes...
mmm Maybe we should make you a news person here then
speaking of time wasters, you guys seen the trailer for Transformers???
http://www.transformersmovie.com/
I don't know if it'll end up looking good or not, but the kid in me is excited. Now how about a live action GI Joe?!?!?!
mmm Maybe we should make you a news person here then
Haha! I've actually contemplated posting news before, I've clicked on the link but then canceled it cuz I'm lazy and just end up waiting/hoping for Shady or somebody else to find the article later. Hehe. Occasionally I'll have something posted in a forum thread that'll show up in the news eventually. I read Gizmodo, eHomeUpgrade, and [H]ard|OCP pretty religiously along with a few other sites that often post about stuff relevant to the digital home, so I usually end up reading things there first.

Me and my friends have been following development of this movie since it was first announced.
yeah, i remember seeing the yellow mustang when it was announced that would be the Beetle replacement. just strikes me as odd considering there is the VW beetle which is pretty new....so i'm guessing ford paid a pretty penny.
Optimus looks badass tho!
Woohoo! Thanks to my review (shameless plug ;D ), my amp now goes to 11.
my A/V wires are...like jumper cables????? um.....hoooray
i still don't think i can program a VCR clock, but whatever

Jokes are never very funny when they need to be explained. Anyhow, originally it was to be "Speaker wires as large as jumper cables", but that took up too much space.
lol...ahhh.....thank god it's not hard-coded into the site!
juuuuust kidding
That makes so much more sense now. I didn't get it at first either.

Alright.. sounds like we are going to have to do a contest to generate a list of possible tag lines and then vote on the top 5.

Ahhh. Finally back and able to read missingremote.com Almost died on my trip of 2.5 days without IT!
