How do you guys have Meedio and BTV setup? what I am curious about is how you launch one application from within the other..is anyone using Meedio for sage tv as well? I have both BTV and sage and want to figure out a way I can smoothly incorporate both applications together so using my remote I can jump from one to another.
How do you control BTV or Sage w/ Meedio?

I for one used to use the MeedioSage plugin (pretty sure that was its name) to control SageTV through Meedio. It's been a very very long time since I used it though so I can't be of much help explaining setup. All I know is that the only problem I ever had with that setup was the occasional focus issue. I was using a Niveus remote and its included software because I had no interest in learning (or paying for) Girder. It was quite clean and I even had skins to match so it appeared seemless.

Are you still using meediosage? currently I have btv running with mediaportal and its okay..the way I have it setup is using the power button on the hauppauge remote to turn on sage or put it sleep and using the otherprograms plugin in sage I am able to launch mediaportal..but I am looking for a seamless integration..and have heard of people using sage and meedio or btv and meedio..I was just looking for some setup steps.

If you are looking into just frontends in general and are interested in controlling SageTV, check out XLobbyMC in my signature. It's pretty much a seamless transition between the two apps.

Ive read the post on htpc forums and it doesnt really work correctly..I havent tried xlobby because I dont like their skins..I guess Ill just make do with mediaportal and sage for now till someone writes up a guide to use meedio properly

XLobby and Sage both support the BlueTwo MediaPortal skin (or slight variation of it) if that's the one you are using.

Hey Naylia I downloaded both xlobbymc and installed sagemc but when I go into xlobbymc and click on tv nothing happens..I mean it doesnt show anything in sage..now I didnt setup the tuner for sage but should it not atlease show something? also how do you remove items from the main xlobbymc screen..like eg I dont need games or radio showing up and I couldnt find this option in the xlobby setup...great work on the xlobbymc skin btw:)

To get into the Skin Editor push 'Pause/Break', then you can just click on an item and hit 'Delete', and rearrange/name the other ones to suit your needs.
For transfering focus, XLobby needs to be open, with SageTV sleeping in the background. Hitting 'MyTV' should then open Sage and go straight to your recordings. Some people need to install TweakUI, and then run it and goto General->Focus and uncheck "Prevent applications from stealing focus"....and that should fix focus issues.
If you have a universal remote and a USB-Uirt then you can control everything with a remote. The 'Menu' command when learned with a remote will always take you back to the XLobby Main Menu and put Sage to Sleep.
If you are using SageTV 6.x with SageMC 6.3 or higher you need to do this too:
Detaching RSS in SageMC from Custom 1...you need to find RSS settings. They are located in SageMC->Settings->SageMC->Visual->RSS Ticker Options
Once in the RSS Ticker Options change the Enable/Disable to something other than Custom1 and you should be good to go. (The original SageMC command to goto the MyTV screen is Custom1, however, with the advent of the RSS capability in Sage it overides the original link to Custom1/MyTV. Changing the RSS Enable/Disable to anything else restores the original link)

Hey Naylia thanks for your quick replies always:) A question I have is when I was following your instructions for the xlobbymc skin it talks about editing 2 xml files..one called sagetv.xml and the other ppc.xml..do I still need to edit these files and change sageapp to sageclientapp? I was able to edit sagetv.xml but couldnt find a ppc.xml..I dont have a sageserver I just record and watch stuff so I guess its the client I am running.
I will do a new install of Sage which btw I am running Sage 5 which has been running strong for a long time now and reinstall sagemc and xlobbymc tonite..I will let you know how it goes, thanks again for all your help!

oh btw I am using a Harmony remote and use the hauppauge IR receiver to control sage..will this work for xlobby? I did not see any plugin for hauppauge on the xlobby site and was unable to find any configuration setting within xlobby for the remote control.

Sadly it does not natively support the Hauppauge IR reciever, you'd have to use the XRemote plugin with girder to get support for it.

I spilt your post into a seperate thread as this could be a good bit of discussion...I'll start.
I believe Meedio has a module that can be imported that adds control of SageTV. There may be one for BTV as well. Another option is using something like girder to intercept a certain remote control command and reassign focus from one application to the other.
