Dish Network TurboHD

Anyone else on it? What are your thoughts and experiences? Did you have to pay an additional fee per month for a second box? Are you using it with a HTPC? If so how Smile

Lots of questions but I'm sure I'm not the only one looking for answers! I just signed up and will be hooked up on Feb 14th so will also post my thoughts when I get it

Had this through my apartment complex in San Jose. I had issues with the QAM channels being remapped occassionally which confused the STB, but that was an apartment complex specific issue. Other than that service was good. It was nice being able to have HD only content. I used an HD-PVR with it and it worked great. Just set both box and HD-PVR to 1080i and record away.

I wont be able to use a HD PVR Sad with VMC

I'm hoping that it outputs simultaniously on the analog and HD ports like my cable box does so I can use it in VMC through normal methods, but when watching something I have the option of changing to the HD input ont he TV (so I can still record programs until they come up with a HD recording solution for VMC

The ViP 211 I had output simultaneously on both Component and S-Video, so that shouldn't be an issue for you.

this is a mod you install int he box (or you purchase a pre-modded box) and it turns the STB in to a USB PVR card.

Yeah, that's nice if you know that you will be sticking with the company for a while.
