Detailed Reviews or Build Log or Mix of Both???

Final part, the processor is in the mail for my fall build. Do folks want detailed articles on any of the above parts? Or do you just want the build log? Vote early and often (multiple choice).

Here's what I'm interested in:

1.  Just a build log is fine, but...
2.  I want to see how the HD-PVR performs when writing to the WD GP:  writing issues, playback issues, etc.
3.  I want to see how you decide where the insulation is going (assuming it's not a custom designed package for your case) and how you apply it

I just did a build of WHS on the P5Q-EM this past weekend. I'd be interested in finding out the playback capabilities of the IGP in the HTPC world. What CPU are you using in the mix? I opted for the 7200.

Also power consumption with the "Green" HDD's

I have not tested the power consumption yet myself but will do so soon.

The insulation may be of interest too depending on the type of case you are using and how "full" the case is

It is the custom package, but this may also provide insight because it should represent how Acoustipak thinks about what the best places are to apply the material. I also won't have to deal with the fun of measuring and cutting Smile

Processor is an E8500.

Ok, I'll start with the build log and cover the other major parts except the heatsink. Processor came in, so I guess I'll get to take tomorrow off work Smile

If there are any more votes, get them in so I take enough pictures tomorrow.

How's your build going? I'm actually getting ready to do my third build probably starting next weekend once the rest of the hard drives come in. The are the WD 1tb green drives. I have used Acousti Pak in my last build, but it was the precut kit for the HT-400. Talk about quieting everything down! Smile The segate drives I am using are way to noisy for me. They work great, but the 7200rpm drives create to much heat and noise for my tastes even with the Acousti Pak installed which definately helped. I'm to lazy right now to undervolt the case fan since most of the noise comes from that and the powersupply.

My next build is an HP d5000t sysetm in a silverstone LC16 case for cable cards. I'm courious to see pics of you build especially wire routing.

Build's going well...into software setups now...i'll try to document it all on Monday evening. Fiancee is in town, so that put a crimp on getting beyond basic functionality.
