MissingRemote Re-Launch Contest Giveaway #3- Vidabox CubeCase

Nov 19 2010

THIS CONTEST HAS ENDED! THANKS TO ALL WHO PARTICIPATED!

Hope everyone has been enjoying this week as much as we have, with our grand unveiling of the new MissingRemote layout and community. Please be patient with us as we work out all the kinks--we figured if we bribed you with prizes you would be more lenient!

The weekend is fast approaching, so for the following prize entries will be accepted until Monday at noon, to make sure everyone that might have missed out on the previous day prizes has plenty of time to enter.

You may remember the awesome CubeCase chassis we reviewed last month? Well Vidabox has been kind enough to donate another one of these snazzy Mini-ITX chassis just for this very giveaway!

From our very own Josh:

The beauty of this case is it allows you to run a full sized optical drive, no need for one off laptop sized optical drive just for a server chassis. Another view of the field serviceable hard drive bays. What is nice about these drive bays is that they are built in with Sata ports in the chassis. All you need to do is screw in the hard dive to the tray and slide it in, no messing with plugging in wires or anything like that. Perfect for WHS use, power down, plug in your new hard drive, and power back on. Just plain simple.

Read below for the instructions on how to enter to win a Vidabox CubeCase, with an MSRP of $99!

Currently just using Windows 7 to do nightly backups. I get the backup monthly loaded onto an offsite drive.

Currently no real storage solution.  Multiple hard drives in the media server with some data stored on more then one drive for a slight bit of redundancy.

I have a bunch of external harddrives for all data backups and non-immediate data storage.

twitter:notAtweeterer

currently i have no storage solution, just a small hard drive i back up one of several pcs to and cross fingers the others stay ok.

Currently I'm just using a couple of external HD's with windows 7 backup.

Twitter is wktaylor1

Facebook is wktaylor112

I'm using my own old home-made computer to do manual backups whenever I think about it Sad

No current storage solution other than internal hard drives.

Nothing

I have 2 WD Caviar Green 1.5TB Internals in a RAID 1 configuration.

Hoping to upgrade to 2TB drives soon and remove the 1.5s from the RAID giving me more over all storage regardless of backups.

Ive got no real NAS solution.

Video is kept on a drive in my main/only htpc, though I am running out of space and will have to add a new one soon. (I hope to do it while also adding a SSD for performance)

important files (pictures, my documents, etc) are synced between my three windows computers and the cloud using microsofts windows live mesh 2011. its lightweight and free so why not? I used to use amazon's jungle disk and it worked well but it was a little more of a pain in the ass to install.

at some point in the future i will move to a WHS+extender model and if i had the money i probably would do it now just to have a project but it doesnt even make sense for me. i only have one television.

UnRAID server with 15 drives.  One 2TB parity drive and fourteen 1.5TB data drives.  Great for streaming Blu-Ray and DVD rips to every PC in my house.

DIY WHS

Currently WHS but have 4 new unopened 2tb drives that would love to go in this case with a new Server build I am wanting to do (none WHS). Perfect timing for me to win!! Wink

cheers

Finish your other projects first!  Tongue out

I do not currently have a storage solution.

Currently no NAS solution, only a 1TB external usb drive.

I've got some (very) old drives in RAID on my desktop. No dedicated storage server.

2 WD 1T external USB hard drives.

I'm using an Internal 2TB drive for backups at this time.. would like to put a WHS in that case your giving away though =)

newfiend

I use Windows Home Server with duplication enabled. I also use my Dad's WHS as an offsite backup solution.

Currently using a home built atom based nas with

Ubuntu 10

2 x 1.5TB WD Green Drives in Software raid 1

OS installed on CF card.

Just using W7 and a big 3TB raid array.

I'm currently using Windows Home Server (v1) in a creaky old case.

I'm using an old Dell Dimension as an Amahi HDA (runs on Fedora 12).  200 GB HD for now.

Im currently using my homebuilt WHS box that I put in my old HTPC case, when I upgraded my HTPC. Im at about 7TB (and growing) right now. I store my Music, DVDs, Blu-Rays,Pictures, in addition to backing up the 3 other PCs in the house. Anxiously awaiting Vail!

My WHS

HP LX195

I back up only an HTPC image, photos and music and basically run a weekly batch sync of those files to a second PC at home.  Photos & music are also stored on an external hard drive at my work office.

So no WHS or anything like that.  I do have PogoPlug with two hard drives for extra network-attached storage as well.

Buffalo Terrastation in my media closet, no WHS, just a whole lotta shares.

I'm using a Pogoplug. I use Sync Toy to back up photos, music and movies to the 1 TB hard drive, then just send it throughout the house.

I don't have a real storage solution, just shared drives on various PCs.  I really need to get something more organized set up...

Windows Storage Server 2008 R2

- RAID6 3ware storage array for media as a share

- RAID10 3ware storage array for Hyper-V as a SAN

...and neither am I.  Buzkill on myself.  Foot in mouth

Windows Home Server with about 4-5TB.

UnRaid server with 3 1.5TB drives for data and 1 2TB drive for parity

UnRaid server with 3 1.5TB drives for data and 1 2TB drive for parity

I'm currently using an Acer Aspire AH340 Windows Home Server.

I still have 4 hard drives in my mini tower case. And they aren't big hard drives, either.

I use Windows 7.  Works great.  Could use this box and DR plan.  : )

Just using an extra hard drive in my HTPC for backups. I'm also using batch files to backup all my important info (family pictures, etc.) to other locations.

Windows 7 with 4 TB of storage with another 2 TB of external storage.

Right now none

I had been using FreeNAS (.org), which is a great free NAS solution where you can pile in a bunch of old HDDs into an array.   I ended up abandoning it because it was a real energy sink and now just use a cloud based backup solution (mozy.com).

Windows Home Server (a tiny little HP box) with a 1.5TB external drive.

None at present. Hope to add a NAS in the future.

25 tb WHS that runs Sagetv, mostly using 2tb hdds.

I'm running a WHS that is backed up to the web using AsusWebStorage.

We use WHS to back up all of our computers and specifically my wifes computer and all her photos for her photography business. (That stuff takes a ridiculous amount of space, and people get cranky if you lose thier pictures)

Currently i store my all backup on Western digital external 1 TB hard drive. This is only storage solution i have currently.
